Hi brahmacochin , thanks for your interest.
Have finally setup a photo folder, well actually set up 7 of them i think by accident, not sure how that happened sorry. Maybe you could remove the others. Well this is the basis of what im breeding with this year. Any comments and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Luke,
My latest hatch of babies has me a little intrigued. From my Light, white splash Brahmas I am getting some Black and Grey babies. Is this due to the dilution gene being switched off? I'll post some pics in the next few days to show you what I mean.

Hi Luke, Thanks for your comments on BYP. I have uploaded a whole heap more chick photos today there too...Ill haveto figure out how to do it here.

Yep the chick is out of a Gold Partridge hen... I could not work ot why it lost all the gold from its feathers... these might appear later maybe. It was an experiment to see what it would produce.. I was expecting smeared wishy washy gold partridge.. not that the silver would hide the gold ... that surprised me. There are some problems I have ( I think the poss Exp. Birchen hen I have may be his full sister..... same very light lacing on throat and going down neck.

Thanks for your help Luke... have no idea how much I appreciate it.

Hi Kylie I checked out the photos on BYP. Looks like it could be a Dark pullet with melanisers. Maybe from Hugo cross a gold partridge hen?

I put a photo of the chick on the BYP birchen thread. about 2 weeks to get feed back on the colour...but people more concerned with pale yellow legs and middle toe than the meaning of the colour unfortunately...... have a look and Ill tell you the parentage . Hugo is the dad of course.... this chick ..should look different, the mellanisers have me baffled. .... its moments like these when I wish I had about 10 yrs more experience with chook genetics lol.
